This morning, we got up very early because we wanted to make another little tour around our island. Our first stop was a very, very ancient temple. I could hardly wait to see it, so I walked ahead of mom and dad!
The temple was indeed very ancient and also very special since there weren’t any built shrines but only ones carved from stone.
At the entrance, we met the old temple guardian and he showed us that there’s the handprint of god on the rocks.
The whole atmosphere in the temple was very special. It really felt like being in a whole different era…
The temple guard was a very friendly person and it was very interesting to hear what he told us about the temple and its history. Luckily, we all speak a bit of Indonesian, otherwise it would have been quite difficult to communicate.
The entrance to the main part was very impressive, too, and the stairs were quite hard to climb as they were very steep and very big.
On top of the entrance gate, the guard showed us that there was even a footprint of god in the stone.
The whole place really seemed to be special. Perhaps also because there were amazingly high trees growing inside the temple. The guard said that they provide water for the temple’s fountains.
Then he showed us something special: He opened the entrance to an underground cave. It was really cool as the entrance was closed with some sort of a stone-lock and could hardly be disguised from the surroundings if you didn’t know that there was something special hiding in this place.
The old man showed me, how to enter the very small entrance.
I was very curious about what was expecting me inside there…
… I could hardly see anything in the dark but below the entrance, there was a steep staircase.
The whole scenery somewhat looked like being from an old Indiana Jones Movie.
