Balls is waiting for his share of our breakfast

Balls reminds us of Scooby Doo

Balls reminds us of Scooby Doo

The craziest dog on the beach is probably “Balls”. We don’t know his real name but we call him balls since he sometimes used to sit into anthills and wondered why his balls were itching like crazy. That’s what brought him his nickname.

Balls is cool because he doesn’t want to be touched by anybody but he wants to be greeted and “petted virtually” when we arrive at the promenade. This always looks a bit crazy: a dog hopping around our bikes, tail wagging and when we hold our hands towards him as if we were petting him, he grunts with pleasure and starts wagging his tail even more. πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Usually, after the “salutation ceremony”, Balls takes his post on top of the stairs where he starts drooling and waiting for some bits of our breakfast that could “fall” into his direction. πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Sadly, we haven’t met Balls since the day we took that picture. As he always came to greet us and suddenly there are posters hanging on the beach saying what punishments await people who mistreat or poison dogs, we’re afraid that somebody may have poisoned him or that he was the victim of a hit and run… πŸ™

It’s been already two years since we last met Balls. Such a long time. Yesterday, we saw a dog on the road, where mom for a moment thought it was Balls. But sadly, it wasn’t. πŸ™
