Everything is ready for the celebration
Since 17th of August is Indonesia’s independence day, our neighborhood decided to organize a celebration. When we arrived at the celebration site this morning, everything was already nicely decorated.

The bicycles are nicely decorated
There were a lot of competitions. One of them was about decorating bicycles. The younger kids in our neighborhood had decorated their bikes very nicely!

We’re training a bit of basketball
While the bikes were judged by the jury, my friends and I played a bit of basketball to train for the competition that was planned to take place in the afternoon.

The Krupuk-eating-race was fun!
Next was the Krupuk-eating-race. This one was very funny. I had done this in school before but it was much more fun here!
The next competition was tricky! They hung a big hail on a long string and tied it around your belly so that it was dangling behind your knees. Then we had to run across the badminton field to reach empty beer bottles which had been placed before. Now, we had to insert the nail into the bottle without touching anything with our hands. The one who first had the nail in the bottle, won! That looks easy but I can confirm you, it’s not! 😆

The marble-race takes a lot of concentration
The last race was a marble race. We all got a plastic spoon and a marble. Then we had to place the marble on the spoon, stick the end of the spoon in our mouths and run twice across the badminton field without losing the marble and without touching anything with our hands.

Everybody had a lot of fun
In the late afternoon, there was also the previously announced basketball competition where we had to try to hit the basked from a 3-point distance.
We also made a short movie about the day for you. Check it out below:
